Great Dorset Steam Fair 2001

1914 Wallis & Steevens 4 nhp Showman's Tractor - Royal Star
Works No.7482 - Reg. No. AA 5459
This tractor was requisitioned from new by the War Dept. and was used for threshing by Hollands of Chaddleworth, Berkshire. In 1921 it passed to Pondews of Shinfield, Reading, who also used it for threshing. In 1925 it was sold on to Goodey Bros of Twyford who used it to haul, in particular, their gallopers as well as other amusements. Its last commercial work was transporting wagons of stone for the construction of Twyford by-pass. Afterwards, in 1927, it was laid-up for 40 years in a scrap yard until purchased for preservation in 1967; when by then it had a tree growing right through it.
