Essex Steam Rally - Barleylands 2000

1910 Burrell 8nhp DCC Traction Engine

This engine left England on September 30th 1910 for New Zealand and arrived on 16th January 1911 at Timary Wharf, South Island for delivery to Stocker Bros. for threshing use. The cost of the engine, including delivery from Thetford, Norfolk, England, was £1018 and 2 shillings. It was later sold on to M Sullivan of South Canterbury and was used for general agricultural work. After 20 years working for Sullivan, it passed through four more owners and was used for various tasks including tree-pulling, greenhouse steaming. The engine went into preservation in 1958.
